Hertz Car Hire - Modena
Modena - Emilia Romagna
Modena is a city on the south side of the Po valley,
in Emilia-Romagna, Italy dating back to the Roman
times. Modena became a free city in the 12th century.
The city is home to car manufacturers such as Ferrari,
who test the Formula 1 cars on the racetrack at
nearby Florino. Modena University was founded in
the first half of the twelfth century, after the
death of Countess Matilde of Canossa (1115). Modena
is also well known in culinary circles for its production
of balsamic vinegar. The old city's fortified walls,
now converted to promenades, give it a pentagonal
shape and notable buildings include the cathedral
and the bell tower (completed in 1319)
