Parma - Emilia Romagna
Parma is a medieval city in the Italian region of
Emilia-Romagna, famed for its architecture and the
fine surrounding countryside. Parma is divided in
two parts by the little stream with the same name.
The Romanesque Cathedral houses works by Antonio
da Correggio and Benedetto Antelami. Parma has a
number of other notable classical buildings including
the church of Saint John the Evangelist (1498 to
1510) and the Baptistry (begun in 1196 by Antelami),
one of the most important Medieval monuments in
Europe. Parma is famous for its food including Parmigiano
Reggiano cheese and Prosciutto di Parma (Parma ham).
